My name is Beth Downer. I am the owner, director, and lead teacher at the Learning Garden Preschool located in Billerica, MA. I have been teaching preschool for the past fifteen years. I am married with children of my own. It was my life long dream to become a teacher. As my children got older and went off to school, so did I! I have earned an Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education and another in Liberal Studies at Middlesex Community College. I attended Lesley College and have a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Development with Specialization in Early Childhood Education (Pre K-3rd grade). My goal is to earn a Master's Degree in the field of education. It is my passion for learning that inspires me every day to teach, and be taught by, children.
Teaching Philosophy
I believe that my preschool is like a garden for learning. The children are the seeds, the teachers are the water, and the parents are the sunshine. My hope is that children will "sprout" a love for learning that will continue throughout their school years. I feel that self-knowledge is the most important nutrient for growth. Each child has his or her own unique learning style. My wish is that, by encouraging creativity and exploration, every child willl discover their own talents. I am here to assist them in every way possible.
